Mayden Voyage

This year I have made the decision to dive into the wonderful world of back-country skiing, sort of. Only I'm not skiing,I am split-boarding. :) There are limited options when it comes to obtaining a split-board and most of them are rather pricey, so I decided to cut my own. There was a board in the local classified ads that I picked up for a pretty good price and then I proceeded to cut it in half! But that's a story for another day. The point is, I finally took it out and did a tour today. Woke up at six in the morning, drove up the canyon, skinned up a mountain, snowboarded down, and got home at about one in the afternoon. What a wonderful day it was! It kicked my ass pretty good and the snow wasn't the greatest but it was a great day! Here are some pics for you to enjoy, even though they are not the greatest. Even if they were the greatest they could still not fully convey the days majesty.

Thanksgiving Weekend

What a wonderful time of year! The leaves are changing, winter is on its way, and I get a few days off from school to spend time with the fam and eat some great food. Thanksgiving is a pretty big thing in my family. All of my aunts, uncles, and cousins meet at my gradparent's house and have a wonderful meal and play some games. Topped off with home-made pie!

This year's big game we played was a one we recently bought called "Curses", now if you have never played this game and you're into ridiculous games then I recommend you pick this one up because it is hilarious! More or less there is a lot of acting out scenarios and being "cursed" with crazy things that you must maintain throughout the game. For example, you could have to talk with any number of accent including pirate or Irish. If you are ever caught not fulfilling any of you numerous curses, you get called out on it and must turn over your card for that curse. As soon as you have three strikes, you're out.

I've been complaining recently about the lack of snow, but when I sit back and think about it, this is a pretty typical year. I say this because I usually end up playing golf on Thanksgiving, but this year was unable to due to snow on the course. Bummer for golf, yay for winter. :)

So what did I do on my long weekend? Well, for starters I worked a lot. Worked a 2-11 shift on Friday and a 8-5 shift on Saturday. But besides that I cut my snowboard in half, went to a movie, and took my dirt bike out.

Friday night I went and saw Ninja Assassin, which was pretty badass if you're into graphic ninja movies. The story line was a little iffy, and some of the action scenes were almost humorous in the way they were carried out.... a lot of limbs got cut off.

Saturday night I cut my snowboard in half. Why would I do such a thing? I'm making a custom split-board, that's why! It's gonna be badass too. I picked up a Never Summer out of the local classified ads for around a hundred bones and chopped it in half. We cut my buddy's as well. All in all it went pretty well and I couldn't be more pleased! Let's just hope the rest of the project goes just as well.

Hope everyone else had as wonderful of a Thanksgiving Holiday as I did. :)

Some Photos

I've recently picked up a new SLR Camera. I got the Nikon D3000 and I'm pretty happy with it, even though it is just about the most entry level SLR you can get now-a-days. Anyways, we had a really pleasant snow storm this week and I decided to go out and take some photos at about 1:00 am and try it out. Here's what I got. Enjoy.

climb climb climb

That's what my week has consisted of it seems like! Climb, climb, climb. Needless to say, it's been a good week. :) Some bouldering was done as was some sport climbing. Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood Canyon. Dan really stepped up his sport game and led some harder climbs, so that was really cool! Unfortunately there are only photos from the Big Cottonwood outing.

...and so it begins.

I've always had a faint interest in blogs but not much more than that. The purpose and direction of my blog has yet to be determined. Some people share every non-interesting event that happens to them through each dragging day of their monotonous lives, while others only share the most epic and profound stories imaginable. I'd like to think that I lie somewhere in the middle of those two, but i guess we'll find out.
