Excellent Day

Another day on the mountain! This was my second day out on a splitboard and it was a great day. At around seven in the morning, Dan and I headed up LCC with hopes of finding some decent snow. We began our journey aiming for Days Fk. and it was a pretty interesting skin track... that is if you find ice interesting. I thought it was pretty sketchy, but we fought on. I biffed it a couple of times and had to boot up one section. One particular kick turn gave me a whole load of shit. I got my first ski turned and as I was trying to get my second one up and over something happened and it resulted in me more or less jumping sideways off of the skin track and landing on my side with a perfect outline of my body embedded in the untouched snow for everybody to see. What an embarassment... all well, I'm still new so give me a break. We gained altitude pretty quickly and were feeling alright, still not convinced that we were going to shoot for the top. That decision was quickly made for us when I dropped my ski pole and it shot down the mountain about a hundred feet. The idea of bailing on Days and heading for Grizzly Gulch had been in the air for a while and we thought this was the perfect reason to act on it. So we transitioned and bailed, picking up my stick on the way down. Grizzly was a great idea! We ended up with a couple of pretty sweet laps with limited effort on the skin track minus one sketch section that gave us some grief. We hit some pretty fun drops and enjoyed some awesome snow. What a riot! So the days synopsis is three good runs, some tired legs, and a lot of smiles! Oh yeah, and some pictures. So enjoy.

p.s. the last photo is the shit that we had to drive back down to. :(
